Caziant

Take Caziant once per day at the same time of day, as directed by your doctor. If you get stomach pain or nausea after taking Caziant you can take it after your evening meal.

Caziant is safe and widely available at most pharmacies with a prescription. Caziant is a brand name, but the same medication also goes by many other brand names, including Apri, Marvelon, Solia, Ortho-Cept, Kariva, and Mircette. The generic version is called Desogestrel-Ethinyl Estradiol.

Taking Caziant does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.

Diarrhea or vomiting can prevent Caziant from working as well at preventing pregnancy as it could. If you have diarrhea or vomiting, you may need to use a backup birth control method. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Take Caziant after your evening meal if you have an upset stomach when you take this medication. It is very important to take the pill at the same time each day, so choose a time that you can easily remember.

Caziant has some known side effects that include nausea, vomiting, fluid retention, breast tenderness, or headache. Spotting/vaginal bleeding or irregular periods may occur especially during the first few pill packs.

Caziant is associated with some rarer but more severe side effects. These may include unusual changes in vaginal bleeding, dark urine, lumps in the breast tissue, mental or mood changes, and severe stomach or abdominal pain.

Caziant can make blood clots more likely, so it is important to seek help if you experience symptoms including confusion, sudden dizziness or fainting, unusual headaches, slurred speech, or pain in the chest or left arm.

It is a relatively common myth that birth control pills can cause weight gain. Don't let the fear of weight gain prevent you from getting on the pill.

The seven inert pills do not have hormones, but you are still protected from pregnancy while you are taking them as long as you took the first 21 pills in the pack correctly.

Let your doctor or pharmacist know if you are allergic to estrogen or progestin before taking Caziant, or if you have any other known allergies.

Tell your doctor about your medical history before taking Caziant, especially if you have a history of blood clots or blood clotting disorders, diabetes, depression, cancer, abnormal breast exam, high blood pressure, history of jaundice during pregnancy or using hormonal birth control, or unexplained vaginal bleeding.
