    Nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals stops the growth of bacteria. It works by killing the bacteria that are responsible for the urinary tract infection. Nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals treats UTIs very efficiently by targeting bacteria at the site of infection. This medication can be taken for 5-7 days, depending on how severe the infection is.

  • What are the side effects of this medication?

    Common side effects of nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals include headache, gas, and nausea. Some nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals users may also experience vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, or fatigue. Side effects may improve over time as your body adjusts to the medication. If you continue to experience side effects while on nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals and haven’t been taking any other medications or supplements that could be contributing to these side effects, contact your healthcare provider.

  • How do I take this medication?

    Take nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals exactly as prescribed by your medical provider. If you do not understand these directions, ask your medical provider to explain them to you.
