Selenium sulfide shampoo

Selenium sulfide 1% shampoo is an over-the-counter treatment option for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, in addition to fungal infections of the skin (tinea versicolor).

Selenium sulfide 1% shampoo is applied directly to the hair and scalp and rinsed out.

Selenium sulfide 1% shampoo should be used externally, and never taken by mouth. It’s important to always wash your hands before and after use. Apply to wet hair only. Avoid contact with your eyes, and rinse your eyes out with plenty of cool tap water immediately upon contact. Do not use it more often than directed.

It’s important to let your provider know if you’ve ever had a reaction to selenium sulfide in the past, or if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, or attempting pregnancy.

Side effects for which you should seek immediate medical care include: Chest pain or palpitations; dizziness or fainting; skin rash, blisters, or itching; sudden weight gain; Swelling of the hands or feet. Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your provider or healthcare professional if they continue or are bothersome): Headache; redness; irritation and itching at the site of application; unusual hair growth on the face, arm, or back. Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other medicines on the scalp without first asking a healthcare professional. In your health assessment, it’s important that you share all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use so a Nurx medical provider can determine any possible interactions.

This medication can be purchased over-the-counter and does not require a prescription.

Consultation
Anyone who requests hair loss treatment will be charged an $80 consultation fee. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.

Medication
Medication prices for hair loss treatment range from $18-$60 for a three-month supply, and are not covered by insurance. Shipping is always free.

Support Fee
Nurx will charge a flat $3 support fee each month one or more of your orders are processed. This fee covers your unlimited, on-demand access to our customer care team as well as certain processing fees. This fee will only be charged once in any month, even if you have multiple orders processed that month. This fee applies whether the order is filled through Nurx or at your local pharmacy. If your order is filled via Nurx, the support fee is billed at the time of fulfillment. If your prescription is sent to a local pharmacy, a support fee will be applied at that time. In the future, the support fee will be applied on a cadence that matches your medication refill cadence.
