Signs I may have a yeast infection

The symptoms of yeast infections can be hard to distinguish from other vaginal or urinary tract infections (UTI). Yeast infection symptoms are often uncomfortable, causing itching, irritation, and changes to your vaginal discharge. Here are common symptoms of yeast infections and UTIs.

This includes unlimited messaging with our medical team about your treatment (if prescribed) for one week after submitting your treatment request, so you can ask questions about your prescription at any time during that period. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.

If medication is prescribed, your Nurx medical provider will send the prescription to a pharmacy of your choice for pick-up. You will pay for the medication at the pharmacy and the price will depend on the pharmacy and whether you pay with insurance or out-of-pocket.

  • Does Nurx accept insurance for yeast infection treatment?

As this treatment is only available for pickup at a local pharmacy near you and is not shipped by Nurx, costs and applicable insurance coverage may vary. Please check with your preferred pharmacy for exact pricing. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.

  • What medication does Nurx prescribe for yeast infections?

Nurx prescribes Fluconazole (generic Diflucan®), which is an oral tablet medication.

  • Who can use yeast infection treatment from Nurx?

We are able to offer yeast infection treatment to patients who are diagnosed with a yeast infection by a Nurx medical provider. If you believe you may have a yeast infection, request treatment by completing a health evaluation. We prescribe yeast infection treatment to patients 18 and up where medically appropriate.

While Fluconazole is generally considered a safe medication, it may not be a good fit for certain individuals. Please inform your medical provider if you have had an allergic reaction to Fluconazole or other antifungal medications in the past, or have heart disease, kidney or liver problems.

Additionally, we do not recommend or prescribe Fluconazole to those who are currently pregnant. If you are experiencing a yeast infection during pregnancy, we recommend over-the-counter products to help treat and alleviate symptoms.

  • What's the difference between bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections?

A yeast infection is a fungal infection that is treated with antifungal medication. It can cause symptoms including thick, white vaginal discharge; itching, irritation, and soreness of the vulva; pain or discomfort during sex or urination; and redness and swelling of the vulva.

Bacterial vaginosis is a bacterial infection that is treated with antibiotics. It can cause symptoms including thin gray, green, or white vaginal discharge; a strong unusual odor (especially after sex or menstruation); and burning during urination.
