Constant prescription delays

My birth control repeatedly gets delayed for no reason and I can't get an early refill without paying out of pocket. It happens frequently and throws off my hormones badly. I have no idea why this happens and never happened to me with Pill Club. Support is nice but they aren't really able to do anything to help me. Please take people's medication seriously! I've been on it for years and my schedule being disrupted has negatively affected me physically on several occasions. There should be early refills for FREE available if it was the company's fault for delaying the prescription.

I love how accesible nurx is

I love how accesible nurx has made birth control for me. It was an easy process and very reliable.

I love Nurx

I love Nurx. Truly the BEST way to get your birth control.

Thanks!

Helps me get my birth control to regulate my periods.

I highly recommend NURX

I've been getting my birth control through NURX for almost a decade. I've always had good experiences with every single aspect. Even switching to different brands. They are always responsive and on top of everything. I highly recommend them!

They made it so easy to get birth…

They made it so easy to get birth control, found the right fit for me and they notify when it is getting ready to ship then when it’s shipped. With insurance, it is so cheap! Once insurance changed. They found an alternative to get me and it’s been a wonderful experience.

Never had birth control recieved late.

Never had birth control recieved late.

I get my order on time every three…

I get my order on time every three months without having to do a thing and the birth control has really worked well for me! I’ve recommended Nurx to so many people I can’t recommend them enough.

I love them.

I love them because getting birth control is easy and affordable, I dont have to go to the obgyn to get them. They are mailed directly to me. I also love that they send me an email 2 weeks before they send them. It helps with my budget incase I have to pause that month.

Poor communication, suspicious, and untrustworthy.

Had a consultation to get prescribed birth control. The same day I received a message that there were issues with my insurance, to which I responded asking to adjust information. Somehow, the customer service assumed this meant to cancel my entire order, to which I received multiple confusing messages, no communication about such, and had to ask the same questions several times to even be told that it was canceled. They did not even acknowledge that several different staff members messed up and did not even process a refund until I directly pointed out their mistakes. Do not trust this company to provide you birth control or any prescriptions unless you want to actively feel like you're being scammed and ignored.

Common questions

  • How does this medication work?

Junel Fe 1/20® is a pill that you take every day during a 28-day cycle. Each day is labeled and you will take the pills in order at the same time each day. For the first 21 days, you will take a hormone pill and then for the last 7 days, you will take a reminder pill, which contains a small amount of iron.

  • What precautions should I take when using this medication?

It is always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new medication. Your medical provider or Nurx healthcare professional can help you determine if you are at risk of an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions, although very rare, include hives, itching, facial swelling, and trouble breathing. You should also discuss your health history with your physician before starting Junel Fe 1/20®.

  • What are the side effects of this medication?

There is always the possibility, although rare, of side effects when taking hormone-based birth control medication. Because Junel Fe 1/20® is a low estrogen birth control medication, very few women will experience side effects including nausea, headache, breast tenderness, weight gain, water retention, and irregular periods. Some side effects including irregular periods will go away after your body has adjusted to the medication. Serious side effects are extremely rare but could include blood clots, stroke, migraines, and vision changes.

  • Can I take this medication with other medications?

Junel Fe 1/20® is safe with most prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. However, it is always a good idea to inform your healthcare provider of any medications or supplements you are taking to avoid any interactions. Some medications can reduce the effectiveness of Junel Fe 1/20®, resulting in a pregnancy. Specific medications can also interfere with Junel Fe 1/20® including aromatase inhibitors, seizure medications, HIV drugs, and medications used to treat chronic hepatitis C.

  • Does this medication cause weight gain?

Any weight gain you experience when starting this medication is likely due to fluid retention, and should decrease after your body adjusts. If you experience significant weight gain or loss after starting a new contraceptive, it's important to let your healthcare provider know.

  • Can this medication treat acne?

While not originally intended to treat acne, studies have found that some birth control medications can reduce breakouts and inflammation. If you're interested in learning more about what birth control might help your acne symptoms, visit our Birth Control for Acne page to get started.

  • Does Nurx offer birth control to help with medical concerns other than preventing pregnancy?

Your Nurx medical provider will partner with you to find the best care for your symptoms and medical concerns. As medically appropriate, a Nurx provider may prescribe birth control to help manage symptoms associated with PMS (Premenstrual syndrome) and/or PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder), or to help with cycle control (delayed period). In some cases, birth control may also be used to help manage symptoms of endometriosis and/or PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), to assist with improving acne. While the use of birth control is considered “off-label” for these listed purposes, a licensed Nurx clinician may prescribe birth control if they deem doing so medically appropriate.

  • How much does birth control from Nurx cost?

    Consultation
Anyone who requests a birth control prescription will be charged a $28 consultation fee. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.

    Medication
For those with health insurance, your prescription will be free in most cases if it is covered by your health insurance, and we accept your plan. Insurance companies set the “copay” for prescriptions and depending on your plan and the prescription, this will usually be $0. Please connect with your insurance company if you would like to learn more about your copay. If you do have a copay, Nurx will authorize a $30 hold at checkout. If your copay is over $30, you will receive a notification to approve the updated amount.

    Support Fee
Nurx will charge a flat $3 support fee each month one or more of your orders are processed. This fee covers your unlimited, on-demand access to our customer care team as well as certain processing fees. This fee will only be charged once in any month, even if you have multiple orders processed that month. This fee applies whether the order is filled through Nurx or at your local pharmacy. If your order is filled via Nurx, the support fee is billed at the time of fulfillment. If your prescription is sent to a local pharmacy, a support fee will be applied at that time. In the future, the support fee will be applied on a cadence that matches your medication refill cadence.

  • Does Nurx accept insurance for birth control?

Yes, we accept most forms of private health insurance for medications. If you’d like to know if we accept your health insurance plan, please connect with our team at [email protected]. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.
Nurx does not accept any federal or state government insurance plans, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or any of their affiliated managed care plans, nor can Nurx service such patients. We recommend that you find a local provider in your community that participates in your government payer program.
