Constant prescription delays

My birth control repeatedly gets delayed for no reason and I can't get an early refill without paying out of pocket. It happens frequently and throws off my hormones badly. I have no idea why this happens and never happened to me with Pill Club. Support is nice but they aren't really able to do anything to help me. Please take people's medication seriously! I've been on it for years and my schedule being disrupted has negatively affected me physically on several occasions. There should be early refills for FREE available if it was the company's fault for delaying the prescription.

I love how accesible nurx is

I love how accesible nurx has made birth control for me. It was an easy process and very reliable.

I love Nurx

I love Nurx. Truly the BEST way to get your birth control.

Thanks!

Helps me get my birth control to regulate my periods.

I highly recommend NURX

I've been getting my birth control through NURX for almost a decade. I've always had good experiences with every single aspect. Even switching to different brands. They are always responsive and on top of everything. I highly recommend them!

They made it so easy to get birth…

They made it so easy to get birth control, found the right fit for me and they notify when it is getting ready to ship then when it’s shipped. With insurance, it is so cheap! Once insurance changed. They found an alternative to get me and it’s been a wonderful experience.

Never had birth control recieved late.

Never had birth control recieved late.

I get my order on time every three…

I get my order on time every three months without having to do a thing and the birth control has really worked well for me! I’ve recommended Nurx to so many people I can’t recommend them enough.

I love them.

I love them because getting birth control is easy and affordable, I dont have to go to the obgyn to get them. They are mailed directly to me. I also love that they send me an email 2 weeks before they send them. It helps with my budget incase I have to pause that month.

Poor communication, suspicious, and untrustworthy.

Had a consultation to get prescribed birth control. The same day I received a message that there were issues with my insurance, to which I responded asking to adjust information. Somehow, the customer service assumed this meant to cancel my entire order, to which I received multiple confusing messages, no communication about such, and had to ask the same questions several times to even be told that it was canceled. They did not even acknowledge that several different staff members messed up and did not even process a refund until I directly pointed out their mistakes. Do not trust this company to provide you birth control or any prescriptions unless you want to actively feel like you're being scammed and ignored.

Common questions

  • How does Ella® work?

Ella® is a 30-mg dose of ulipristal acetate. It is not intended as long-term birth control and will not protect against future unplanned pregnancies. Ella® is also not an abortion pill. This pill works to delay or prevent ovulation, reducing the risk of pregnancy in women who have had unprotected sex. Ella® doesn't hurt your chances of getting pregnant again in the future, but is a valuable option if you don't want to get pregnant now.

  • Does Ella® prevent implantation?

Ella® is not an abortion pill, which means it does not prevent implantation of a fertilized egg from forming in the uterus. Ella® works to delay ovulation, meaning the sperm never meets the egg, preventing pregnancy.

  • Does Ella® have hormones?

Ella® is a nonhormonal pill. Ulipristal is a nonhormonal drug that blocks key effects of hormones needed for ovulation.

  • Is Ella® more effective than Plan B?

Plan B is an over-the-counter emergency contraceptive similar to Ella®. However, Ella® is proven to be more effective than Plan B because it can be taken longer after unprotected sex. Plan B is most effective within 72 hours after sex, while women can take Ella® up to five days after sex. For both pills, the sooner you take it, the more effective it is.

  • What precautions should I take when using Ella®?

There are a few considerations to keep in mind when taking Ella®. If you feel nauseous and throw up within two hours of taking Ella®, then it won't be effective and you will need to take it again. You shouldn't use your regular hormonal contraceptive (like birth control pills) for five days after using Ella®. This will decrease the effectiveness of both Ella® and your normal contraceptive. Instead, use a barrier contraceptive (like a condom) until five days have passed and then return to your normal routine.

  • What are the side effects of Ella®?

Everyone reacts differently to medication, so you may not experience any side effects or have mild to moderate side effects. A few common side effects include:

    • Headache
    • Nausea
    • Stomach pain
    • Menstrual cramps
    • Tiredness
    • Dizziness
There have been no serious complications reported when taking Ella®. However, your next period may be different from what you normally experience. It may come earlier or later and could be heavier or lighter. Your period should return to it's normal cycle within a month.

  • What else should I know before taking Ella®?

It's important to check with your pharmacist or doctor before taking Ella®. They will be aware of how your current medication may react with this pill. You should also avoid taking Ella® if you are already pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or have already taken it once since your last period. You will know that Ella® has worked properly when your next period begins. Ella® is less effective the longer you wait to take it. If your period is more than seven days late, even if you have taken Ella®, then you may be pregnant.

  • How much does emergency contraception from Nurx cost?

Nurx offers two different emergency contraception options.

Nurx's Levonorgestrel (generic Plan B One-Step®) is $25. It is over-the-counter with free shipping, and does not require a prescription. We recommend this product for on-hand use to have it for the moments you need it.

Ella® is $45 without insurance (or as low as $0 with insurance), requires a prescription, and can be sent via ground shipping (for free) or with overnight delivery (for an additional $15). To be considered for an Ella® prescription (as medically appropriate), you'll also need to complete a medical consultation that costs $15. If you need emergency contraception urgently, please request Ella® here.

  • Does Nurx accept insurance for emergency contraception?

Yes, we accept most forms of private health insurance for medications. If you’d like to know if we accept your health insurance plan, please connect with our team at [email protected]. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.
Nurx does not accept any federal or state government insurance plans, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or any of their affiliated managed care plans, nor can Nurx service such patients. We recommend that you find a local provider in your community that participates in your government payer program.
