Common Questions

  • How does menopause-related depression & anxiety treatment with Nurx work?

Whether you suspect you are experiencing menopause-related depression and anxiety, or have been diagnosed in the past, you can request treatment with Nurx any time through our website or app. You will complete a consultation with a comprehensive set of questions similar to the intake you would complete when starting treatment with an in-person mental health professional. Your answers to these questions will allow your Nurx medical provider to evaluate your symptoms, make a diagnosis, and (if medically appropriate) create a treatment plan.

After reviewing your consultation, a Nurx medical provider licensed in your state will send a message to your Nurx account to ask any follow up questions and propose a treatment plan, if medically appropriate. You’ll have the chance to share any information and ask any questions you’d like. Once your medical provider has prescribed treatment our pharmacy can fill your prescription and your medication will arrive in the mail. You’ll also have the option to have your prescription sent to a local pharmacy of your choice for pickup.

Your medical provider will follow up regularly to monitor how your medication is working, and adjust treatment as needed, and you can message them any time with questions or to request adjustments.

  • How much does depression & anxiety treatment with Nurx cost?

    Consultation
Anyone who requests mental health treatment will be charged a $59 consultation fee. This fee covers a Nurx provider evaluating your intake assessment and creating and prescribing your treatment plan, if medically appropriate. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the initial medical consult fee or the ongoing medication management fee.

    Medication
For those paying with insurance: We will bill your insurance directly for your medication and the price to you will depend on the specifics of your plan. Please connect with your insurance company if you would like to learn more about your copay.

For those paying without insurance: Medications start at $25/month.

    Monthly medication management
If you receive mental health treatment from Nurx, you will pay a recurring monthly $69 medication management fee. This fee covers a Nurx provider managing your medication needs (including any adjustments) on an ongoing basis. This fee also covers your unlimited messaging with our medical team about your treatment.

  • Does Nurx accept insurance for mental health medications?

Yes, we accept most forms of private health insurance for medications. If you’d like to know if we accept your health insurance plan, please connect with our team at [email protected]. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.
Nurx does not accept any federal or state government insurance plans, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or any of their affiliated managed care plans, nor can Nurx service such patients. We recommend that you find a local provider in your community that participates in your government payer program.

  • What medications do Nurx medical providers prescribe for menopause-related depression and anxiety?

Nurx providers prescribe a personalized treatment plan, as clinically appropriate for each patient, based on your symptoms and health history. Nurx prescribes and delivers a comprehensive selection of mental health treatments for menopause depression and anxiety including daily antidepressant medication (SSRI/SNRI) or anti-hypertensive medication. The Nurx medical team prescribes these treatments according to evidence-based clinical guidelines and based on each patient’s individual symptoms and health history.

  • What does the monthly medication management fee cover?

There isn’t a one-size-fits all treatment for mental health conditions — the medication/s and the dose that work best varies by individual patient and may change for that patient over time. For that reason, you may need to communicate with our medical team regularly at the beginning of your treatment to find a plan that works best for you.* Once your treatment plan is established our medical team will check in throughout the year, to confirm that the treatment is working and adjust if needed. Nurx patients can message the medical team any time to ask questions about their treatment or request prescription adjustments. This ongoing care and unlimited access to our medical team costs $59 for the initial consultation (in addition to the copay or cost of your medication) and $69 per month for ongoing medication management, even if there are months when you don’t communicate with us. Please note that Nurx does not provide therapy or counseling.

  • Does Nurx offer online talk therapy?

While Nurx does not offer talk therapy, we’ve partnered with Talkspace to help you connect with a licensed therapist. Explore more mental health resources.

  • Does Nurx offer hormone-replacement therapy?

Nurx does not offer hormone-replacement therapy. Nurx providers can help with managing mental health concerns that might arise from hormone balances, like menopause-related depression and anxiety.

  • Are Nurx’s services available in languages other than English?

At this time, we only provide care in English. We are committed to creating an inclusive experience and are exploring options to expand language support in the future.
