What is Minoxidil Foam?
Minoxidil Foam is an FDA-approved topical product that is applied directly to the scalp.
How does Minoxidil Foam work?
While the exact mechanism is unknown, it is thought that Minoxidil Foam increases blood flow to your hair follicles wherever applied, helping to improve hair health, reduce hair loss and boost regrowth.
How do I get Minoxidil Foam from Nurx?
Request treatment and answer some questions about your health history and symptoms. A Nurx medical provider will review your health history and photos of your hair and scalp and, when medically appropriate, will prescribe Minoxidil Foam to treat hair loss.
How much does Minoxidil Foam cost from Nurx?
After the initial $80 consultation fee, Minoxidil Foam costs $20/month and arrives in a 4-month supply.
What precautions should I take when using Minoxidil Foam?
It’s important to apply Minoxidil to dry hair once a day or as directed by your Nurx provider. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses. This medicine must be used on a regular basis for your hair to regrow. It may take 4 to 6 months of regular use before you notice any improvement. It is important to continue to use this product to maintain regrowth of hair. Once you stop using it, the regrown hair will usually fall out within 3 months. Do not get this medicine in your eyes, nose, mouth, or on other sensitive areas. If you do, rinse off with plenty of cool tap water. Always wash your hands after use. Do not apply if your scalp is cut, scraped, or sunburned. While it is uncommon, some people may notice changes in hair color or texture after using this medicine. Keep out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Some products may be flammable. Keep away from heat, fire or flame. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
Does Minoxidil Foam have any known side effects?
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or healthcare professional as soon as possible: Chest pain or palpitations Dizziness or fainting Skin rash, blisters, or itching Sudden weight gain Swelling of the hands or feet Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or healthcare professional if they continue or are bothersome): Headache Redness, irritation and itching at the site of application Unusual hair growth on the face, arm, or back This list may not describe all possible side effects. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
Can I use Minoxidil Foam with other medications?
Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other medicines on the scalp without first asking a healthcare professional. In your health assessment, it’s important that you share all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use so a Nurx medical provider can determine any possible interactions.
How long does it take for Minoxidil Foam to start working?
When used consistently and as directed, Minoxidil Foam can show results in as little as 4-6 months.
Why might Minoxidil Foam not be right for me?
Before beginning treatment with Minoxidil Foam, it’s important to let your doctor know if any of the below apply to you: Sudden or patchy hair loss Sudden onset of increased hair shedding Loss of hair in other areas (e.g. eyebrows, eyelashes, etc.) Unknown reason for hair loss Your scalp is red, inflamed, infected, or painful An unusual or allergic reaction to minoxidil, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives Pregnant or trying to get pregnant Breast-feeding
