Common questions

  • What is RegrowRx Spray?

RegrowRx Spray is a signature Nurx compounded formula that features clinically backed hair growth ingredients (such as minoxidil and melatonin) plus caffeine and tretinion. Topical minoxidil has long been known as a gold standard in treating hair loss and boosting regrowth. Clinically backed topical caffeine and melatonin support healthy hair growth, while tretinoin gently exfoliates for easy once-daily application. The powerful benefits of these ingredients are combined in Nurx RegrowRx Spray.

  • Does RegrowRx Spray require a prescription?

Yes, RegrowRx Spray is available only through Nurx and via a prescription from a Nurx provider, who will work with you to understand your hair history and goals. If clinically appropriate, they’ll prescribe RegrowRx Spray for hair regrowth.

  • How does RegrowRx Spray differ from other products containing minoxidil?

Minoxidil is a gold-standard, FDA-approved treatment recommended by dermatologists to treat hair loss for decades. Other forms of minoxidil treatment include topical minoxidil spray and foam, oral minoxidil tablets, and other combination (compounded) treatments.

RegrowRx’s unique no-drip and quick-drying spray format allows for easy, mess-free application. In addition to minoxidil, RegrowRx Spray also contains the clinically-backed hair loss benefits of melatonin, plus caffeine to make thinning hair look thicker and tretinoin to gently exfoliate the treatment area.

  • How does caffeine help hair loss?

Topical caffeine makes thinning hair look and feel thicker.

  • How does melatonin help hair loss?

Topical melatonin has been shown in clinical studies to facilitate scalp hair growth.

  • How does minoxidil help hair loss?

Minoxidil has been shown in clinical studies to boost hair regrowth. While the mechanism of minoxidil isn't completely understood, it is thought to increase blood supply to the scalp, lengthening the anagen (growth) phase of hair follicles and helping to convert miniaturized hairs to thicker, more mature hairs.

  • What precautions should I take when using RegrowRx Spray?

This compounded medication is typically well tolerated. Side effects usually occur at the start of therapy and decrease over time.

Common Side Effects: Minoxidil can initially cause a temporary increase in hair loss as it is working but this resolves in several weeks in most cases. Redness, peeling, dryness, or irritation of the skin where applied. Increased sensitivity to sunlight where applied.  Sunscreen or other UV protection is recommended while on this medication. Tretinoin may cause changes in skin pigmentation at the sites of application.
Rare Side Effects: Some individuals may experience changes in hair color or texture.

This list may not describe all possible side effects. Call your provider for medical advice about side effects. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

  • What is a compounded formula?

A compounded formula pairs multiple ingredients in one product, allowing you to get multiple clinically proven hair ingredients without adding steps in your routine.

Please note that as Nurx RegrowRx Spray is a compounded formula, it is not FDA-approved. Therefore the FDA did not verify the safety, effectiveness, or quality of this compounded drug. A Nurx medical provider will help determine if RegrowRx Spray is a good fit for you.
