In order to stay on PrEP for HIV prevention long term, testing is required every 3 to 6 months to check your HIV status, Hep. B status, and kidney function/creatinine levels. Because PrEP does not protect you against other STIs, the CDC also recommends getting checked for common STIs like syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.
