Assuming your birth control consultation results in a prescription, your one-year prescription allows for automatic refills from the time you begin using our service. After a year, you must engage in another medical consultation before your prescription can be renewed, and you will be charged another consultation fee at that time. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.
We automatically renew PrEP prescriptions three months following your initial consultation. Before your medication runs low we’ll send you a message that it’s time to renew, then upon confirmation from you we will send you an at-home test kit. Assuming your lab results look good, we’ll continue your prescription for another three-month supply of medication. Updating the Refill Date in Your Account
If you ever need to update your refill date just login to your Nurx account and on the Home page click Next Refill Date. From there, you can select the date that you would like your next refill to process. Keep in mind that if you are paying with insurance and would like to schedule your refill earlier, you may need to contact your insurance for additional approval.
If your birth control prescription is written for continuous use, this means that you are skipping your inactive pills in order to miss a period. This type of use requires earlier refills than regular use, because you are skipping the week of inactive or placebo pills. We will automatically schedule your next refill date based on whether your prescription is regular or continuous. If you’d like to know how your prescription is written, you can check in your Subscriptions tab. If your subscription is written for continuous use, it will show (Continuous) after the name of your medication.
