Over the past week you probably gobbled up a delicious Thanksgiving meal, then snapped up deals on holiday gifts for loved ones (and maybe yourself). Now that those culinary and retail feasts have passed, it’s time to think of giving to somebody you’ll never meet, who could really use your help: A woman struggling to access birth control.
In honor of Giving Tuesday, Nurx will match your donation to Bedsider’s Contraceptive Access Fund dollar-for-dollar! This fund helps women in significant financial need access free birth control, help that is more important than ever in the face of clinic closures in many parts of the US.
Even a small donation can have a big impact for a woman in need!
Birth control from Nurx costs as little as $0 with insurance or $15 per month without insurance.
$20 = a gas card for someone whose nearest clinic is in the next county
$50 = a year’s supply of birth control pills
$100 = a birth control shot that prevents pregnancy for 3 months
$200 = birth control pills for a year for 4 people, delivered right to their homes
At Nurx we know that birth control is more than medication — contraception gives women power over their own destinies by allowing them to control the decision of whether and when to become parents. But not all women have equal access to that empowerment: More than 19.5 million women in the US are in need of publicly funded contraception and live in contraceptive deserts, meaning they lack access to a health center that offers the full range of contraceptive options. Barriers of cost, geography, and stigma prevent too many women from accessing contraception and reproductive care.
Through our partnership with Bedsider, a project of Power to Decide, Nurx is already donating free birth control for a year to 1000 qualifying women who are new to Nurx, and has contributed $10,000 to the Contraceptive Access Fund. Now for Giving Tuesday we will match your donations too, up to another $10,000 on top of the $10,000 we have already given.
Make a tax-deductible donation today and your generosity will have double the impact:
