Setlakin prevents pregnancy by suppressing ovulation. It also thickens the cervical mucus and thins the lining of your uterus to create an inhospitable environment that makes fertilization unlikely.

Take one Setlakin pill orally each day with a small amount of liquid. Try to take your pill at the same time each day in the order directed on the pack. Taking the pills with food may ease any nausea symptoms.

Store your Setlakin pills at temperatures between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep them away from children, moisture, and heat sources.

Stroke-like symptoms including sudden weakness or numbness, especially affecting one side of the body, slurred speech, and difficulty balancing or seeing may also occur in extremely rare cases. If you notice any of these unusual side effects after taking Setlakin, seek immediate medical care.

These side effects might seem scary, but they are extremely rare. Most women who take Setlakin do not experience these problems and actually find the contraceptive pill enhances their life. In addition to pregnancy protection, they love that the pill gives them lighter and less painful periods less frequently than their natural cycle. They also enjoy a reduced risk of developing ovarian cysts and fewer, less severe acne breakouts.

Setlakin can be safely taken with most other medications. However, some medications interact with this extended cycle birth control pill. Hypoglycemic medications prescribed for type 2 diabetes and indirect anticoagulants may not be as effective once you start taking Setlakin. Adjusting the dose under direct medical supervision can alleviate this problem.

Setlakin's contraceptive effects may be impaired by a range of other medications and supplements, including epilepsy medications such as barbiturates, primidone, and phenytoin; tuberculosis medications, such as rifampicin and rifabutin; HIV medications, such as ritonavir and nevirapine; and St. John's wort.

A course of antibiotics can also make Setlakin less effective. You may need to use a backup method of birth control if you are prescribed ampicillin, chloramphenicol, neomycin, polymyxin B, or any sulfonamides or tetracyclines.
