What if I don’t want an HIV test?

HIV testing is a great way to keep yourself healthy. It is only required in a very few circumstances in the U.S., such as blood and organ donation and military service, to name a few. In all other circumstances, opting to take an HIV test is your decision. In settings where HIV testing is recommended, such as many health settings, the law requires you are informed that an HIV test will be performed, and no test should be performed over your objection. If you are sexually active you should be tested for HIV regularly. In the US, an estimated one in seven HIV positive people do not know that they have the virus. With readily available medical treatment, people with HIV can live long and healthy lives, but it’s important to start treatment as soon as possible. However, if you have ordered a Home PrEP or STI Test Kit from Nurx and object to HIV testing, simply contact us and cancel your order for the kit and no testing will be performed.
