We know many of you are concerned about COVID-19, the infection caused by the novel coronavirus that has spread around the world since the beginning of this year. I want to make sure you know that the Nurx medical team is here for you and able to provide birth control and our other healthcare services uninterrupted during what may feel like an uncertain time.

We also want to assure you that the pharmacies that fill your prescriptions and send out your medications have implemented extra-stringent precautions to put your safety first. Our pharmacy and partner pharmacies always maintain the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation, and now we have implemented additional safety procedures. Here are a few things we are doing to protect you:

  • Pharmacy employees will self-screen for symptoms and do temperature checks.
  • If any employee is not feeling well or has members of their immediate household who are ill, they will not enter the pharmacy.
  • Team members will wear new and clean gloves while handling all medications and put on new gloves throughout the day.
  • We have increased the frequency of daily sanitation procedures, including cleaning all pharmacy surfaces throughout the day.

If you are limiting your activities because you’ve been advised to practice social distancing, then telehealth (whether provided by Nurx, your primary care provider, or another provider) can be a smart option because it reduces your exposure to others who may be sick. The Centers for Disease Control recommends that healthcare providers leverage telemedicine tools when possible to limit the spread of the virus.

To ensure you have trustworthy and the most-updated COVID-19 information, you can check the rolling updates on COVID-19 from the World Health Organization, read GoodRx’s in-depth article What is Coronavirus? or read this article by Dr. Chris Hall, an infectious disease specialist and our Senior Medical Advisor. He will continue to post updates when there is new information we believe you should know.

While the medical community still has much to learn about this new infection, we do know that staying on top of your everyday health needs is as important as ever. Nurx remains committed to helping you do that, privately, conveniently, and with compassion.
