Anxiety is characterized by feelings of worry, fear, apprehension, or unease often accompanied by physical symptoms that may include chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or tension. Anxiety disorders are conditions in which these symptoms become excessive and interfere with daily functioning. Common treatments for anxiety disorders are counseling, lifestyle changes (such as exercise), or medication. Many people find that their anxiety improves after treatment with certain medications.
