Our birth control brands

Get birth control pills for as little as $0 with insurance* or as little as $15/month without insurance. You will also pay $28 for the initial medical consultation, which includes access to our medical team for a year for follow-up consultations relating to your birth control. We usually send a 3-month** supply.

Please note: Most birth control pill formulas are available in multiple generic versions, which may look different or have different names but contain the same mix of hormones. If you request a specific birth control pill we will do our best to get you what you request, but in many cases (due to price, or your insurance coverage) you may receive a generic version or a similar generic to the pill you requested.

Common questions

  • How much does birth control from Nurx cost?

    Consultation

Anyone who requests a birth control prescription will be charged a $28 consultation fee. This includes unlimited messaging with our medical team about your birth control for one year so you can request prescription changes or ask questions, any time during that period. At this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee. Patients will need to complete a new annual consultation, including any related fees, when a prescription is up for renewal.

Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.

    Medication

For those with health insurance, your prescription will be free in most cases as it will be covered by your health insurance. Insurance companies set the “copay” for prescriptions and depending on your plan and the prescription, this will usually be $0. Please connect with your insurance company if you would like to learn more about your copay. If you do have a copay, Nurx will authorize a $30 amount at checkout and it will only be charged if you have a copay. If your copay is over $30 you will receive a notification.

For those without insurance, Nurx offers birth control brands that start at $15 per month*. If you’d like a price estimate for a specific brand or type of birth control, please connect with our team at [email protected].

  • Why get birth control online?

Although many people are used to getting birth control through their doctor’s office, you can now get the same options online for less hassle. Nurx offers extensive support to anyone exploring different birth control options, and free shipping once you decide which route you want to take.

Getting birth control online instead of in person has a number of benefits, including:

Convenience. With Nurx, you can request a prescription whenever you want or need it, saving you any scheduling problems or time-consuming trips to the doctor’s office.

Accessibility. When visiting a doctor, you usually only have a few minutes to get all of your questions answered. The medical team here at Nurx can answer whatever questions you might have, when you have them.

Choice. We have access to a wide range of birth control options, both brand-name and generic, that your local pharmacy might not readily have in stock.

Transparency. Our prices are all clearly listed on our website — meaning no more sticker shock when it’s time to check out at the pharmacy.

Savings. Getting your prescription delivered straight to your door means saving money on transportation, parking, and the time you may need to take off work to see your doctor.

Getting your birth control online may feel like a leap, so feel free to contact a member of our team for further information.

  • How does it work?

Once you decide to get birth control online, what exactly happens next? Our process puts you in the driver’s seat:

    1. Request your prescription. Just answer a few health questions on our online intake form and pay $28 for your medical consult (which includes unlimited messaging with our medical team for a year).

    2. Our doctors review your health profile. After carefully evaluating your needs, one of our licensed providers will write a prescription (if medically appropriate).

    3. We deliver your medication. Our pharmacy fills your birth control prescription and sends a three-month supply straight to your doorstep. Our prescriptions come in discreet, unmarked packaging in order to protect your privacy. Shipping is always free.

    4. Your prescription is refilled automatically. We automatically process and ship your refills — no need to send us a reminder. If you change your mind or want to switch to a new birth control method, just let us know.

  • Does Nurx accept insurance for birth control?

Yes, we accept most forms of private health insurance for medications. If you’d like to know if we accept your health insurance plan, please connect with our team at [email protected].

Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the medical consult fee.

  • Can I afford this without insurance?

We accept most forms of private health insurance, but we also work hard to ensure that those without insurance can afford their birth control. We can provide some forms of birth control to uninsured people for as little as $15 per month.

In addition to carrying the name brands of all major birth control methods, we also offer a number of generic varieties. Generic birth control contains the same active ingredients as its brand-name counterparts, but its cost can be significantly lower.

Want to know whether or not we accept your current insurance plan? Reach out to our customer support team.

  • How is birth control from Nurx shipped?

Contraceptives are delivered by USPS Ground Advantage which typically deliver in 2-5 business days. No signature is required for delivery of birth control. The packaging is generally discreet, and there is no mention of Nurx™ or a pharmacy on the outside of the envelope.

  • What types of birth control does Nurx offer?

We are proud to offer more than 100 types of birth control, including name brand and generic pills plus the patch and vaginal ring. We are happy to try to order specific brands if you request them as well.

  • Can I get a refill of my existing birth control through Nurx?

Absolutely! If you have used Nurx to get a birth control prescription within the last 12 months, we can easily refill that medication for you. Once you message us, we may have a few health questions for you or recommend some other steps, but we’ll do our best to make sure you get what you need quickly.

If you have a birth control prescription from another doctor, please submit a new request for birth control at www.nurx.com. Our Nurx Medical Team will be able to better help you after you answer some basic health questions.

  • Does Nurx offer birth control to help with medical concerns other than preventing pregnancy?

A Nurx medical provider licensed in your home state will partner with you to find the best care for your symptoms and medical concerns. As medically appropriate, a Nurx provider may prescribe birth control to help manage symptoms associated with PMS (Premenstrual syndrome) and/or PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder), or to help with cycle control (delayed period). In some cases, birth control may also be used to help manage symptoms of endometriosis and/or PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), to assist with improving acne, or for menstrual migraine. While the use of birth control is considered “off-label” for these listed purposes, a licensed Nurx clinician may prescribe birth control if they deem doing so medically appropriate.

  • Are Nurx’s services available in languages other than English?

At this time, we only provide care in English. We are committed to creating an inclusive experience and are exploring options to expand language support in the future.
